Live TV through DVB tuner

Good Morning,

I am trying to make an all singing all dancing portable media box, I have set up the addon side and the library side but I am having significant problems setting up the live TV side using a usb DVB-t antenna (http://www.amazon.co.uk/CSL-Receiver-Smartphones-Interface-Smartphone/dp/B00DZR3OKS) it is android compatible, so I am making the assumption…that is is compatible with other variants of linux (this may be wildly off target!). I have followed several walk throughs and on every occasion I either get no response or “PVR Client connection lost”.

In all honesty, I have absolutely no idea what I am doing in this area, I have supposedly tried to set up “backends” but I have no idea how successful that has been as I cannot find any GUI. If there is an “easy” way then I’m all for it, I’m also open to buying a different dvb-t stick if this will make the process easier!

Thanks in advance

Adam

That’s really some strange kind of DVB Stick you got yourself.
How are you actually connecting it to your OSMC box? Adapter?
Also don’t expect that you get any proper signal with that small aerial you have there.

So first step first. Provide dmesg logs and the output of lsusb so that we can understand the current situation.

Thanks for the reply, is is connected via usb, the stick works with my android phone and my windows 10 pc and picks up the terrestrial unencrypted channels locally with no problem however im not using the tiny extendible aerial, it came with a more substantial one, was hoping it may work, but it may not. How do I provide the dmesg logs and the lsusb? apologies not really ran into many problems with osmc and predecessors so I’ve not had to get the logs before.

cheers

Adam

Well you can upload logs via Kodi under MyOSMC.
But that would not give the lsusb. So would be good if you understand how to access your OSMC via SSH
Details regarding how to access the command line interface can be found here on our Wiki: Accessing the command line - General - OSMC

Then you can provide dmesg logs via grab-logs -P -K

lsusb you might first have to install via sudo apt-get install usbutils

Then do lsusb | paste-log

dmesg log

Was this taken with the stick plugged in? Because there seems to be no sign of the stick. Only your Keyboard and the wireless stick seems connected.

BTW: Sorry gave yo slightly wrong command. grab-logs -K would upload it so you can share the URL instead of copy/paste.

I think I may have had a moron moment…that log was with the it removed…

And no need to apologise I’m learning, hopefully one day ill understand all the data in the logs!

Ok, there seems currently no Linux driver support be available for this.
You best source of information is Hardware device information - LinuxTVWiki and the ID to search is

idVendor=1d19, idProduct=110c
And you manufacturer is Dexatek

I was looking there, I think I have found the chipset it is based on"RTL2832" and that chipset is under the Generic heading, is there a way of getting the driver for the chipset and…well hoping for the best? failing that I will just get one from the list! thanks for the all the help btw its really appreciated.

Adam

Ok, if you are sure it is based on RTL2832 then you would need to add the ID to that driver as the driver is already included.
But then the question also would be to have the correct firmware. As I haven’t found anything about that ID on google I guess it could be quite some digging for yourself.

Fair enough, I will save myself alot of time and effort and just buy one that is native! Thanks again!
