Hi all, I just did a manual update and was surprised to see an update was available. I selected proceed but I am now stuck with a blue screen with unhappy face. I tried removing the power but still stuck on the blue screen. First thing I see when my vero reboots when inserting power is " failed to start load Kernel modules"
I’m unfortunately not very experienced in linux but I connected a keyboard and was able to login in osmc. But now I’m stuck I’m not sure what else I can do?
Without any logs it’s hard to say. I would suggest reinstalling OSMC. See Reinstalling OSMC - Vero 4K - OSMC .
Thank you, will try and reinstall now.
Was the new update Kodi v19?
It’s not trivial to tell what you’ve updated to without seeing logs and knowing which version you were on previously.
Sam
Thanks Sam, I was able to reinstall OSMC with usb.
I had Kodi 18.9 installed on my Vero 4K +. I can also see an update available on my Pi3 but will not update yet.
Thanks you for your prompt replies.
Cheers Alex
Can you take a backup of the Pi SD and try updating?
I’d be surprised if there was an issue
Sam
Upload your logs so we can check which version you are on currently.
Sorry I already started the update on my Pi3, will advise if the install in successful or not.
I had the 2020.11-1 version installed.
Below is the log on my Vero 4K + , https://paste.osmc.tv/hafexuhebe . I will retry installing the update.
Just a quick update, my Pi3 updated successfully to Kodi 19.1
Wait about 30 minutes – I was able to identify a bug that could cause an update issue.
I’ll ping when you are all good.
Sam
I’ve verified and you should be able to update as expected.
Go to My OSMC → Updates → Manual Controls and check for updates again.
Thanks for reporting this issue. Please let us know when this is resolved.
Many thanks
Sam
I’m also experiencing a constant blue screen sad face osmc reboot cycle after the update. I cannot get into the interface. logs snippet:

do i need to run an update command from the cli?
Thank you Sam, update installed all good.
Cheers Alex
Seems update didn’t completed. Try running sudo apt-get update
and sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
from cli.
thanks, ran that. had to do a sudo reboot
as well, and now its doing a db migration, looking good. will report back.

Thanks to confirm and remind me of the needed reboot. Might have been that the mirror were not ready, but need to watch as someone else has same issue.
db migration completed, everything booted up normally this time around. I did have to go and configure the osmc skin to get it to rebuild since the skin i was using is no longer supported (which was expected). Looking good now, thanks
