.mkv file Audio but no video

Hi All,

whenever i am trying to play an .mkv file it treats it as an audio file. the display stays on its GUI and audio starts playing.

Does anybody have a clue on this issue?

Hi,

Debug logs may give us more to go on, details can be found here.

Thanks Tom.

Thanks Tom for the quick response !

you can find the log file here https://paste.osmc.tv/usupoqidet

22:39:10.024 T:2660643824 INFO: ffmpeg[9E9633F0]: Stream #0:0: Video: hevc (Main 10), yuv420p10le(tv), 1920x1080 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 25 fps, 25 tbr, 1k tbn, 25 tbc (default)

I don’t think you pi, if I reading the logs right you have pi1; can play this.

The title in metadata says x264, but the stream is reporting hevc; which the pi1’s hardware can’t support.

Regards Tom.

Yes you’re right complete pi noob here.
Could the Pi3 handle hevc ?

The Vero4K is the right machine for future proof HEVC/H265 Decoding.

The Pi 3, can only play very badly to 720p max in HEVC… that is what I hear from.

Hi Paradox,

As Mod256 stated if you want use HEVC videos, vero4k is the way forward.

You may have some success with 720p Hevc on pi3, but 1080p is a no go.

Thanks Tom.

I can confirm that.
I have all the PI Versions 1,2 and 3, and all the Vero versions.
PI 3 can sometimes playback a HVEC 720p, if the audio does not require rework. PI 1 and 2, no chance.
Vero 2 can playback the HVEC 8bit videos fine, but can’t the 10Bit ones.
The Vero 4k plays back the HVEC x265 10Bit + DTS fine
