Movie files are buffering and unwatchable after Kodi update today. An error message did pop up saying ‘some (thing)? failed to install, please report on OSMC support’.
I have attempted for the first time to upload a log file, apologies if I have got the process wrong.

Hi,
Please try restarting your vero4k/verok4k+ and checking for updates again.
Thanks Tom.
Hi Tom,
Did what you advised three times before reaching out for help,
Cheers Mark
Hi,
Via the command line, please issue the following and provide the output:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y dist-upgrade
Thanks Tom.
Hi Tom,
sorry I got called away urgently but am back now.
If I want access the command line by logging in locally. Is connecting a keyboard to an available usb port on the Vero 4K+ all I need to do to enable the keyboard to work?
Hi,
It should just work if you connect a keyboard, instructions are provided in the link in my above post.
Regards Tom
Hi Tom,
keyboard worked perfectly. Followed instructions for logging in locally.
Exiting Kodi took many attempts.
Entering command line using esc tab from splash screen, no issue.
Entering username (osmc), no issue.
Entering password (osmc). No value appears when osmc keys are pressed then screen defaults back to Kodi main menu. Tried three different keyboards all with same result.
Thank you for your help but this is proving too frustrating and time consuming a process. Unfortunately I am going to seek an alternative media player solution.
kind regards Mark
That is expected behavior. Linux type operating systems do not provide any asterisks or other feedback when entering passwords on the command line. It is a security feature.
Simply type the password and press enter.
Thanks for this. I managed to get to the point of changing the password successfully. However I cannot fully enter the sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y dist-upgrade in the command line without the screen defaulting back to Kodi main menu. I get to ‘update’ and it defaults, indeed if I hesitate at any point on the command prompt screen it defaults back to Kodi.
Strange, should not happen after login.
Anyway wouldn’t it be easier to login using SSH?
All,
just checked and download an available osmc update. All is good again, movie files working flawlessly with no buffering.
Thank you for your assistance and apologies for losing a little patience and resilience. Bad few previous days
kind regards.
Glad to hear this is now working as expected.
