MPEG 2 License Install Location

As a matter of fact I did run that command, and got the result:

"error-1 error_msg=“Command not registered”

but I figured that actually attempting to play a particular MPEG file would probably be a pretty good method of determining if activation had occurred. Since the same MPEG file now plays under omxplayer, whereas it did not before, I assumed that the licence was activated so didn’t see any point in mentioning the error message…which incidentally still appears (I have just run it again).

Something is screwed up in your install if that command doesn’t work, although I can’t imagine what off hand.

osmc@rpi2:~$ vcgencmd codec_enabled MPG2
MPG2=enabled

Are you sure you’re typing the command exactly as shown ?

ha ha! bloody hell! missed the “c” off the end of “codec”"! Three times…on both Pi’s! One of the drawbacks of being a 60wpm touch-typist I guess. If I’d typed it correctly at the same time as the video files not working I might have had something there. Oh well. Thanks for your time, and it just goes to show all the times we’re convinced we’re not wrong…when we are.
