Hi Sam
Thanks for the prompt reply. I have uploaded the file. This morning I tried out another 4k movie Creed 2 without any jump forward, and my Kodi crashed.
Cheers,
Tan
Thanks Tan. Will check it.
Thanks Sam
Just a clarification. First, since you have a Vero4K+, the package name is vero3
-mediacenter-osmc. Second, though it probably won’t be necessary, you might be out of luck downgrading the package version since it looks like the repo only contains one Kodi 18 version of the package: 18.2.0-13 Index of /osmc/osmc/apt/pool/main/v/vero3-mediacenter-osmc
Thank you very much for the clarification. I was desperate and just wanted to get rid of the crashes.
So I can use the same command, but now have to include 3 to get build 13?
In the mean time I have to wait for Sam and his team for the fix.
Cheers
The package name is vero3-mediacenter-osmc. If you didn’t remove the package, it’ll still be there. Probably best to wait for Sam to provide a fix before updating the package.
Thanks, I will wait for Sam.
Cheers,
Hi Sam, have you any news on your front?
Hi — not just yet
Sam
Hi
Hopefully the issue is now addressed
I’d appreciate it if you could test this and provide feedback before we potentially release this as an update to other users. To test this update:
/etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://apt.osmc.tv stretch-devel main
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade && reboot
Please see if the issue is resolved.
I also recommend you edit /etc/apt/sources.list
again and remove the line that you added after updating. This will return you to the normal update channel.
Hi Sam thanks for your help.
When I tried to add the last line to the file via WINSCP ( terminal) :
deb Index of /debian stretch main contrib non-free
deb Index of /debian stretch-updates main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ stretch/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://apt.osmc.tv stretch main
deb http://apt.osmc.tv stretch-devel main
I got error message: permission denied
What did I do wrong?
You need to use sudo
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
I will try.
Thank you
I saw on screen
GNU nano 2.7.4 file: etc/apt/source.list
Down below the screen I see lots of commands, but where is edit?
But how do I edit it? Linux is so complex
It can be but you’ll find it a lot less complex if you type the commands correctly. As @bmillham wrote, it should be:
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
You should then see the contents of the file and can use arrows, insert, delete and backspace keys, as appropriate. Use Ctrl-X to exit – followed by Y to save.
Thanks for all the help.
It was typo (sources.list must it be)
@sam
I have update the osmc
Tried out the movie How to train the dragon (part 3). It is more rebuts, but still crashed.
I have uploaded the log
https://paste.osmc.tv/ageququfet
note I have not removed deb http://apt.osmc.tv stretch-devel main
I will try remove now, and check if it will make different.
update; I have removed the last line, OSMC still crashed when I made a jump (tried out 4 out of the 4 movies).
That is only used when doing an update. It has nothing to do with the use of Kodi.
After adding the line, did you do the update/dist-upgrade as you were instructed to do?
Your logs were empty.
Yes I have executed line 4 and 5. I saw that my osmc has been updated and reboot.
I will try to get the crash and re-upload the log
tried on how to train your dragon 3
https://paste.osmc.tv/dogekopaqo
hopeful this time the log is now empty
You log worked OK this time, but it was not a debug log.
Is your Vero connected directly to a TV, or do you have an Amp?
I see that Dragons is a remux, it could be a bad remux. I have that movie in UHD that I ripped myself and it plays fine.
