My Vero V remote control has stopped working

My Vero V remote control no longer works. Pressing the Home and Ok buttons for a few seconds didn’t help either. (The LED lights up)

The remote control does not work with a different power supply from the Vero 4k+.

What else can I do?

I came to post the same issue. It was working fine, came up with a “low battery” issue. i swapped out the battery and now nothing.

i have checked the battery in another device and it works, so it’s not a battery issue.

i have a Vero V, nothing fancy with it, just the out of the box execution.

Have you tried
" The remote controller is not working, what can I do?

The plastic tab should be removed from the battery lid. A LED is visible during operation. If no LED is visible, change the battery. If the LED is visible but the remote does not work, re-pair the remote. You can do so by holding the Home and OK buttons on your remote for a few seconds."

yes jimi1 … but that doesn’t work!

it works with usb remote dongle

Same here. I have an early vero v with the added external dongle. When I try to pair the remote I get a solid blue light on the remote, then after a few seconds the light goes out and the remote still doesn’t work

Try rotate the battery slightly, it may not be making proper contact with the contacts in the remote. Last month I had a customer who RMA’d a remote but the issue was a swollen Duracell CR2032. He also tried an Energizer and had the same problem. I put in a cheap and cheerful Panasonic and it worked fine - turns out some recent CR2032s have had some issues.

This is by design. If you use the external remote receiver, we disable the internal receiver.

Otherwise you wouldn’t be able to pair with the external receiver. To use the internal receiver you must physically remove the external receiver.

You then have to power cycle the device at the mains after shutting down safely.

Sam

I’m trying to pair with the external dongle, the remote has a solid blue light when I initiate pairing by holding ok and home buttons. Do I need to do something to the dongle to put it into pairing mode?

Can you show us a photo of the external dongle?
Have you tried the other USB port?

This is in the usb2 port and was always ok until recently. I can try the usb3 port but that normally has a hard disc in, so it’s not a permanent solution

How is the hard drive powered?

I’d recommend trying the other port.

As you are using an external receiver, you could also try it in another device like your PC.

Thanks Sam, that fixed it but no idea why

Unplugged the drive so only the dongle in usb2 port, pairing failed.

Moved the dongle to usb3 port, paired ok

Moved it back to usb2 port, paired ok

Attached drive, remote still working

Thanks again

Maybe the receiver was slightly loose in the port.

@sam_nzarko:

The remote control does not work without a USB dongle.

What can I do?

You can contact support@osmc.tv.

I tried moving the battery and still no luck.

I have tried to pair the remote again. The blue led shows on pressing a button. I long pressed the home and okay buttons. The blue led in the remote goes solid. But still nothing.

I have rebooted the box. Unplugged the hard drives. But no luck.

If you see a blue light, the battery is working.
Have you measured the voltage on it?

If Home and OK is solid blue, the remote cannot pair. This may be due to interference.
