New Install on 3b+ no WiFi

I did a fresh install a few months ago on this Pi and had the same problem - no Wifi but I cracked it then. I can’t remember how.

Same issue thins time. A fresh install onto SD via Windoze. I preconfigured the Wifi, booted the Pi and it will not connect. It can see my SSID. If I select Configure Network Manually, I get an unhandled exception referring me to the logs but where? journalctl -xe gives:

May 30 17:43:22 osmc preseed[553]: DBusException Raised: net.connman.Error.OperationTimeout: Operation timeout
May 30 17:43:22 osmc preseed[553]: DBusException Raised: net.connman.Error.OperationTimeout: Operation timeout
May 30 17:43:22 osmc preseed[553]: DBusException Raised: net.connman.Error.OperationTimeout: Operation timeout

It a bit boring as it repeats and repeats.

Last time, because of the problems I backed up a file wifi_b827eb298102_31345548_managed_psk but I do not see any useful file under /var/lib/conman and don’t know if I can assume the same name. I can’t find the post which lead me to the solution last time.

For the moment I have a wired connection to I can get to the files with PuTTy.

This should be solved, but for now you can install without specifying a network in the Windows installer and then enter it under My OSMC → Networking

That must have been how I did it last time in the end. Pity the preconfiguring does not work. That is both this time and early April.

Anyway it is working now, thanks.

The preseeding was fixed in a recent commit.
