New Vero V not booting - No Splash

Hi, brand new Vero V arrived today. Followed the setup procedure, but it appears not to be working as expected.

I have a blue light, the TV detects a device. What I’m not getting is a splash screen or even a hint of a picture, no connection to the local network.

I have tried another HDMI cable, tried another TV, tried another ethernet cable, tried another PSU from my Vero 4K.

Anything else I can try to get this working?

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

Just to be sure: You see a constant blue light or just for some seconds when you connect the power supply?

Hi Jim, it is a constant blue light.

That’s … disappointing. Try reinstalling OSMC with the latest image.

Re-installing using the usb method of making boot image doesn’t work either. I have tried it a couple of times now, the image is still on the usb stick after leaving the device on for 20 minutes.

All I have to work with is a black screen and blue light.

I can only suggest support@osmc.tv then

Do you have another device like Vero 4K or 4K+ or a USB A to A cable?

Hi Sam, I do have two other Vero devices, a 4k and a 4k+. Regarding a usb A to usb A that is something I may have somewhere, if not I could get one.

Use a known good Vero power supply (ie one from the 4K) and try the following:

Please write the following image to a SD/USB drive using the OSMC Installer selecting ‘local image’.

https://collab.osmc.tv/index.php/s/DHK8jdPMawiF5nW/download/december-recovery-image-verov.img.gz

And please take a screenshot of the contents of the media after doing so to ensure it’s correct.

With the Vero powered off, insert the USB or SD card.
Now apply power with the toothpick pressed in for about 10 seconds and release it. The toothpick needs to go in the 3.5mm CVBS port.

After a period of time, Vero V’s blue LED should start blinking periodically.
This means that the device has been re-imaged.

You can now remove the installation media, remove power, wait five seconds and re-apply power.
The device should now boot.

I’ll give that a go in the morning and report back. Thank you

Great. If no joy we can swap it over.

Okay, this is where I’m at. just waiting now

Edit: I’m guessing this has failed as it frozen like this for over 30 minutes now.

Edit 2: after the above failed and then noticing I am now getting a Amlogic splash screen I decided to try and reinstall the latest build through the installer. And success! its currently looking like I’m finally in a position to start setting up this box.

You could have a problematic eMMC if you get corruption again, let’s keep an eye on it.

I have now mirrored my setup I had on my Vero 4k and it’s been running now for nearly 24hrs. No unexpected crashes.

As you say, let’s keep an eye on it.

Thank you for the support.
