The remote that shipped with the Vero 4K+ since earlier this year is the same as what is currently shipping with the Vero V. This is the remote that will show up in the logs as “2017:1690”. There have been several different models of OSMC remotes prior to this and they show up using different VID:PID’s. The dongles from previous remote revisions are not compatible in any way with the current revision remote. However plugging the dongle from a previous generation remote will allow that previous generation remote to be used on a Vero V as these remotes present themselves as a standard HID device.
Nice device - sadly it comes to almost $260 Canadian
What’s wrong with that Google tells me its £154 in proper money? Price without any taxes direct from Sam in UK is £149. Seems very reasonable in comparison.
I am not criticizing, just providing insight.
The Canadian price is not OSMC’s fault as the Canadian dollar is plummeting due to stupid Liberal (Trudeau = dumb socialist) government.
For comparison, the MSRP for the NVidia Shield is $260.
The Shield is getting quite old I believe…
Mine is coming in a few days. How do I migrate the best way from my Vero 4K? Just use a backup or start from scratch?
Backing up your 4K and restoring to your V shouldn’t pose any issue at all assuming your 4K is running an up to date build currently. If it is a particularly old install and you think it may be bogged down with cruft you could do a more selective restore to transfer just some of your current install (ie sources and settings but not the library for example) to get a fresh slate.
I would love to configure some of these options as well. Is there a way to do that?

It’s all configurable via the command line with sysfs parameters.
The complex part would be exposing (with a valid explanation) all of this functionality to the user. A lot of settings only make sense if you look at the source code or have access to the SoC manufacturer’s documentation.
Even then – some/most of it is still a guessing game…

Ah, gotcha. I won’t go near it.
We struggle with it too…
We expose what makes sense to you via the Kod UI and continue to explore ways to improve things in that regard.
We’ll keep you posted on update blog posts with any new developments.

NB: anything you customise via sysfs isn’t permanent, so you can’t break things. Worst case is that you just need to reboot to restore it back to defaults.
