No Wi-Fi connection after update

In MyOSMC Network Wreless = Status No wireless connection

https://paste.osmc.tv/aniquhodaq

Do I need to reenter the network credentials after swapping dongles or should it just connect?

The underlaying network connection manager “connman” saves the settings related to devices, so: Yes, reenter the credentials once again!

OK I’ll give that a try. Thanks

Yes that was actually the problem - once I reentered all the details everything worked as expected. Stupidly I missed that.

So I guess this dongle can be added to the ‘It works’ list after all.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Edit : reinstalled kernel 4.19 and all is still working.

Hi All,
I wenth through this thread. I have the same problem, my wifi dongle stopped working.
What are a recommended wifi dingles which will work? Is there some list of supported HW?

I am using the CanaKit 150 MBPS 802.11N/G/B mini usb wireless adapter on my Raspberry Pii with Kodi and OSMC. It works on my pii 1, 2, and 3. I was previously using the Edimax until it failed to be recognized. The CanaKit adapter is approximately $15 on Amazon.

Because I tend to delay updating OSMC on my old Pi (simply because the requests to update normally appear just as I am about to watch something) I have recently fallen foul of this update in the past week because my Pi1 had an Edimax-branded WiFi dongle.

After reading through the posts in this thread I then did a search for MT7601U and picked up a “Wireless-N” USB adapter (as it was described) from eBay for £4.

After a bit of messing around (including moving the Pi1 into another room where I had a spare Ethernet connection) I was able to confirm that it looked as though the new adapter was being recognised, but no IP config. I was about to ask “So, what next?” when I re-read through the thread and picked up on MyOSMC. Took the Pi back to its original location, connected it back to the TV along with a Logitech K400 keyboard to make navigation a little easier. Found MyOSMC and got the new WiFi adapter connected to the access point.

Looks like everything is OK and can confirm this WiFi adapter works find in a Pi1 with OSMC:-

This one is working fine!

hello I am using a raspberry pi 2 with OSMC and after upgrading to the
kernel 4.19.55-6-osmc the wifi no longer appears in the configuration menu.
I realized that I was using a Realtek based wifi dongle which is no longer supported so I switched to a new Ralink dongle that should work.
I inserted the new dongle in the usb port but the wifi configuration menu does not reappear.

Dmesg says:
new high-speed USB device number 4 using dwc_otg
New USB device found, idVendor=148f, idProduct=5370, bcdDevice= 1.01
New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
Product: 802.11 n WLAN
Manufacturer: Ralink

So I wanted to configure via command line the wifi and tried to use connmanctl but I was not able to figure out why it is not working:

connmanctl> scan wifi
Error /net/connman/technology/wifi: Method “Scan” with signature “” on interface “net.connman.Technology” doesn’t exist

can anyone suggest me which commands I should use?
thanks in advance

I had forgotten

connmanctl> enable wifi
Error wifi: Method “SetProperty” with signature “sv” on interface “net.connman.Technology” doesn’t exist

It seems like the kernel update didn’t work correctly. I’d suggest you try to reinstall the kernel package:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall rbp2-image-4.19.55-6-osmc

If that works, reboot. Since you’re using a Pi2, it’s possible that the SD card might be having some issues.

it worked thanks a lot

Hello, i have the same Problem after a update.

I already reinstalled the Version.
and tryed this as well, but it didnt work:

here are some logs:

http://paste.osmc.tv/mihuvaraye

The adapter is using an “out-of-tree” Realtek chipset, which is no longer supported in OSMC (and hasn’t been supported for over a year). However, Sam says support for some of the out-of-tree chipsets will be reintroduced at some point in the future.

that one is over 3 years old… i used a OSMC Version from 3 Years ago, but i have to update, since most of my main apps are dead now.
so i have to get a new adapter or what is the last version, which supports my adapter?

and thanks for the repley

I think that support for the Realtek chips was removed in kernel 4.19, so the last installation image with 4.14 was July 2019.

Thank you, it is fine again and the apps are also working again
