[not solveable] Could not set up tvheadend MSI VOX USB2.0 TV BOX

Well at least they provide Win95 drivers :slight_smile:

While this is not totally wrong for DVB boxes the best is first to check on https://www.linuxtv.org/ about the device support.

What makes you believe this box supports DVB-C? At least on the page you linked to I can not find that.
And also here it is listed as “analog”
https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Em28xx_devices

The seller wrote so in his advert on e**y.

Of course I checked for linux support before:

That sound encouraging, doesn’t it?

But maybe it’s a good idea to go for another DVB adaptor…? )-:

Well I would agree but than it is not specific which part has Generic support. It could be the video grabber part which seems also on your device correctly be found. To be honest I still believe there is just a problem with the driver loading with the right parameter as you still get the list shown in dmesg.
But as written I have my doubts that loading the driver correctly make this work with DVB-C. You always can try to make it runing on a windows PC to validate.

Yeah, I would try my luck returning that shit based on false advertising and get a prober DVB-C device.

This page says “analog tuner” and doesn’t mention DVB. Hm. Does not look so good…

But lost 3€ can be handled… (-;

Anhyhow if you wait 4 months you can get hundreds of those DVB sticks for free as all the people using them for DVB-T can not use them anymore and will just need to throw them in the bin :frowning:

But they will not work for DVB-C, er?

What about this one ?

Another 3€, even including a remote…
And no idea which chipset it has…

Sure they (most of them) will also support DVB-C like this http://www.terratec.net/details.php?artnr=160649#.WD52bme1lhE

But all of this also depends of what you get on your DVB-C

Seriously? A DVB-T2 compatible stick for 3 Euro? Maybe you should delete the ebay URL in your browser and tear out the “e” and “y” keys from your keyboard

Ordered the hauppauge Hauppage WinTv HVR 930C DVB C USB TV (proper model). Let’s see what will happen.

Thank you so much for your support. I owe you several beers!

Wow. The price of the China item changed from 3 to 16,xx€. Maybe it would have been a good idea to do a quick deal…? (-;
