Please can anyone offer any insight into these 3 issues on my Vero V, which have begun since I updated to the March osmc? Have any of you experienced these issues?
Buffering icon intermittently stays on screen when starting to play any video.
This doesn’t happen every time, even with the same video file. The video file will start playing absolutely fine, but the buffering icon stays put for 10+ seconds before disappearing. Seems pretty unnecessary for 1080p x265 content.
Is this because I’ve done a fresh install and kodi is trying to rebuild the metadata and artwork locally for my whole library (i.e. using a lot of bandwidth/processing)? I habe often got this in the past when performing a osmc update or fresh osmc install and have usually rolled back because there seemed no rhyme or reason to it. Updating OSMC much later on after post-release issues were ironed out usually meant the issue went away. (I didn’t have time to investigate before. I do now.)
Additional black screen when stopping playing hdr/dv video.
Another intermittent issue, where stopping playing an HDR/DV video will perform the usual resolution/refresh rate black screen, but then what appears to be an additional pause with black screen happens after that, before returning to the kodi main menu. (I’m using Estuary)
Music playback skipping with some resolution/refresh rate combos.
This one is pretty weird. If I set kodi to 1080p at 60hz, I can playback MP3s from my server over nfs perfectly fine. However, if I try 2160k at 24hz, or 1080p at 120hz, I cannot play more than approx 28 seconds of music without it cutting out for 1-3 seconds before resuming and repeatedly cutting out at the same interval.
This was a problem a while ago - combination of a 4k resolution with 44.1kHz. Can you confirm it’s only 44.1kHz that’s affected? It’s unclear why it miraculously corrected itself before. I’ve just tried the workaround of setting audio output to 48kHz Fixed and that seems to work. We’ll check it out.
my Vero with the broken movie thumbnails issue in Estuary also has this feature where I see the buffering icon when starting playback, in spite of have a fast wired network, and my Veros on October OSMC never do it. I associate this with the increasing number of reports that something is broken with the current release.
Interesting. Today the appearance of the buffering icon is varying from not appearing at all to appearing for up to 28 seconds - with the same media file(s). Seems very random indeed. And this is regardless of content quality/bitrate, as it appears intermittently for different 1080p x265 videos, as well as different 2160p x265 videos.
Thanks.
Can now confirm that making those changes resolves the audio cutting-out problem with a 1080p interface at 120hz.
Any downside to these workaround settings worth noting?
@Bisonator, running the GUI at 120 Hz or viewing a clip at 120 Hz should be avoided. The V runs almost on the edge of desaster in that setup, it can’t handle it reliably, especially, if you have addons installed that run at the same time. So I wouldn’t recommend it.
I’m having the buffering icon issue and the blank/black screen on my LG and Samsung. Missing thumbnails are also a problem. I’m using MySQL library syncing, not sure if that’s part of it or not.
I don’t know if this is after march update or not and I don’t even have any hope for resolving this because it has been mentioned a lot online with Kodi but I have issues with lip sync on my Vero V connected to my avr and arc-ed to my tv. The audio is passthrough. The issue happens if I skip the video for a minute or two and usually gets resolved by skipping back 10 seconds after that or pausing and playing again. It stays spot on after that until the end of the video. I know this is hard to diagnose and solve but I was just wondering if anyone else is having this.
