I had problems with wpa_supplicant on osmc. And if I search this forum and google I am not the only one.
I checked the version and discovered that osmc uses wpa_supplicant 2.3 - a version from 2014. There are newer version dating to 2016.
Why is osmc using this old version and is there a way to update it manually via ppa?
@theincogtion ask debian maintainers instead OSMC has no bearings on that since that version comes outta the debian repo
If you want to update it you can, but you will then be on an unsupported version of OSMC.
I don’t see a good reason to update this version / supply our own outside of Debian.
If I look at the changelog, many things have been fixed. Some are not explicitly listed. I would give it a try.
If you are aware of any issues and can confirm them it is better to get them in to Debian upstream.
