Only resolution 1920x1080 possible

Hello,
I hope you can help me.
I have a Vero V Player since yesterday.

I use it with a JVC NP5 projector.
In between is a HTPC (Videoprocessor+madVR).

The projector is set to a resolution of 4096x2160.
The HTPC is also set to 4096x2160 30p via the Nvidia card.

Unfortunately, the Vero V only works with a resolution of 1920x1080.

3840x2160 or 4096x2160 cannot be set.

Any help would be appreciated.

Based on your logs the Vero detects all resolutions and therefore should be able to use also the higher resolutions.

  1. Where are you trying to change the resolution?
  2. It is generally recommended to keep the GUI at 1080p as the Vero will automatically switch resolution to the Video Resolution when needed.

Hi,

About the system settings.

SDR content is played. With 4K movies there is sound but no picture.

Who knows what that will affect? If you take that out of the chain, what do you get?

There also seems to be a Denon AVR in the chain. Quite a complicated setup.

That’s right. But the chain works smoothly with the AppleTV.

Then it switches to 4K HDR mode.
But that’s exactly what I don’t want with madVR.

If I set “Adjust display refresh rate” to off, I get a picture of a 4K movie. However, 1920x1080.

Perhaps we could look at this further if you could provide an interconnect block diagram of how the projector, avr, apple TV, vero-v, videoprocessor (and anything else) are connected ?

I also noticed in the logs, some of the Vero-V settings for audio capability of your AVR seemed to be contradictory, with respect to what it appears to be capable of. what model is this AVR ?

Also, if the madVR videoprocessor is in the signal path from the Vero-V to the projector, its very uncertain what impact this will have to resolutions and indeed audio over HDMI. Have you tried connecting the Vero-V directly to your projector and/or via the AVR ?

Then everything works.

I also have a picture with 4K content (3840x2160) finally.

It works after I selected „Display>Force 4:2:2 colour“.

But I have handshake problems after finishing movies. I often have black screens.

I have connected everything as shown here.

Yes, you will need 422 to play any 4k 10-bit content. Your EDID indicates a maximum TMDS clock of 470MHz which is highly unusual. (In fact I’ve never seen such a value).

This is complex, some more questions then -

  1. So is the Vero-V connected as an input to the Emotiva XMC-2 ?
  2. Where is the Denon AVR as reported in your EDID ?
  3. ‘channel used for audio’ ? Not sure what this is ? Surely the audio is an output of the XMC-2 to the three amplifiers ?
  4. Why is everything routed via the HTPC ? Wouldn’t it be better to route the output of the HTPC to one of the Emotiva Inputs and just use the 4K/HDR input to the Optoma projector ?

Yes, as an input. But the graphic was an example. I have a Denon AVR 4800.

The HTPC hangs between the Denon and the projector as a video processor. This is a JVC NP5.

The Vero plays the movie file.
This is received in the video processor and MadVR functions as a renderer. The image and sound are then transferred to the projector.

In the meantime, I have a Zidoo player here. I don’t have any handshake problems with the Zidoo Player.

Is this your image? Because it doesn’t seem to match the equipment you own which is confusing.

I’m guessing you have set your GUI to 4k which is unnecessary and counter-productive. But yes, you shouldn’t be getting blank screens even then.

  • Does setting the GUI to1080p solve the problem?
  • if you are using a 4k GUI please reboot, reproduce the blank screen and post logs again (you will need to use grab-logs -A from an ssh command line)

I have sketched the setup by hand. I hope that’s enough for you.

So what is the purpose of the Vertex? Are you using a custom EDID and if so, why?

How does video get into the HTPC? An HDMI capture card perhaps?

I have found the error!

I have a loud coil beeping from the GPU which is transmitted to the speakers. I have eliminated this with a 15m HDMI cable. This was connected between the Vertex 2 and the video processor.
But the cable caused the picture problems.
I now use a short cable and plug the 15m cable between the Denon and the Vertex 2.

Now it works and the coil beeping is also gone.

Glad to hear this.

Won’t lie – we were a bit puzzled!
