OSMC installer fails on macOS Catalina 10.15.3

“An error occurred while writing the image! Please consult the logfile.”

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017) running MacOS Catalina 10.15.3
Works just fine on my older MacBook Pro running an older version of MacOS, possibly High Sierra).
Etcher doesn’t work either; it just hangs with the message “Verifying”.

Side comment: I have no idea what logfile is being referred to. There are many log files on MacOS, so the message is not very informative or helpful.

Looking for a solution to the apparent installer problem, not a potential “workaround”. But thanks. (I may be forced to use the Terminal app but only as a last resort.)

Unfortunately I have no solution for this at this time, but it should be resolved within the next couple of weeks.

Thanks, Sam. I appreciate your reply.

Same issue here on macOS 10.15.3.

As a workaround, I’m downloading the img file and flashing it with balenaEtcher.

But how can you tell OSMC to install to a USB and config the Wifi part?
When using the App you can say I want install to a USB drive…

Hi,

I’ve deleted your duplicate post in the other topic, please don’t do that in future.

You should be able to write an image to usb using:

As for wifi, you can use a preseed file, but it will be easier just to the let the setup finish; then setup the wifi afterwards.

Thanks Tom.
