One of my OSMC remote/USB dongle pairs has stopped working. It does not work with either my Vero or my LE Pi, whereas my other OSMC remote is fine on both devices. Of course I checked the battery, and although the voltage was good I changed it anyway and no joy.
Is there anything I can do that might salvage the uncooperative remote?
I take it you have tried re-pairing the non-working remote to its dongle? On rare occasions the dongles can go bad. I would check your logs to see if it shows up. It will show up listed as having a PID of 1069, 1689, or 1688. If it is not detected then I would contact support and let them know. If it does show up but will not work after trying to pair again then you can see if your other remote will pair to the dongle or vice versa to determine which part is messing up.
Do you see a blue light on the remote?
No blue light on the dodgy remote, the good one does.
No blue light suggests it’s not a dongle issue.
Try opening both good and bad remote and inspecting the battery contacts. Something might be loose.
Useful to know about the blue light, never noticed that before. Working again, I think the sliding cover on the battery compartment isn’t closing quite as securely as on the other remote, so the battery must have been loose. Thanks for the tip!
