OSMC scope skin sad face

Hello! I would like to describe a phenomenon that I have already described to Chillbo (Skinner). He was able to understand or verify the problem in the meantime. He pointed out to me that it would be desirable to publish these types of things so that other people could also look into them.
That’s what I’m doing here:

I press a movie cover in the main window as normal and then I get to the Information window. When I press play below, the film starts normally. If I don’t start the movie, but browse through the actors of this film, I also press an actor and then click on another film in which the actor appears, I come to this film information window. If I then start this film, the sad face appears.
This doesn’t happen with the Kodi skin. However, the phenomenon described above also occurs here with the “normal” OSMC skin.

Unfortunately I am not familiar with this area. But maybe someone else can help Chillbo solve the problem. Thanks!

We’ve been able to reproduce the issue here, but we’re baffled as to what happens really… Estuary triggers these dialogs as well as the button controls involved in exactly the same manner, but it doesn’t show the issue. Additionally, the issue doesn’t show when using our OSMC Skin on a Windows setup.

Will have to dig deeper once there’s time. It’s on the radar :+1:t2:

Hello, is there now a solution to this problem? That would be really helpful. The AeonNox Silvio skin also exhibits this phenomenon. It’s frustrating for me at the moment. Thanks for your feedback.Regards

Can you upload a new log?

Many thanks

Sam

Hi Sam, yesterday I performed a complete reinstallation of the current OSMC version on Vero V and rebuilt the database. The problem still persists – essentially on an untouched installation – with the OSMC skin. I then flattened the device again and installed the latest OSMC (Nexus) version from May 2024. As expected, there are no problems. So, at this time, I can’t provide logs from a recent OSMC version. However, as you can see above, Chillbo has reproduced the issue.

Yes, and it’s not exclusive to the scope skin.

We don’t have any clue what might cause this though… Why only our skin? It’s just using features the Kodi skin engine offers us. And it doesn’t show on other platforms. So, I’m not sure we’ll be able to solve this

The Estuary skin didn’t have these issues here. However, I would have liked to continue using the Scope skin for cinematic use (of course gladly with the current OSMC version)
