After the March’25 update, I’ve been having problems using the left key to skip backwards 10 seconds during playback.
It tries to jump back, stops for a moment and then sort of jump back to where it was or very close to it and start playing.
I initially thought this was a problem with some of video files, but even older files now seem to have an issue.
So far I’ve only seen it with h.265 and x265 mkv files, h.264 seems fine.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks, Sean
Hi
Are you using the supplied (OSMC) remote?
Are you playing back the same file that you played back pre-update? Can you test with the same file and if you still have an issue upload a log
Many thanks
Sam
Hi Sam
I’m currently using my LG TV’s remote which works with the Vero, but I will find the original remote and try it.
I’ll test it when I get home tonight or tomorrow.
Thanks for the quick response, Sean
I am using a Vero 4k+
I have the same problem with “skip back” (rewind).
I have used the Samsung TV remote since the start with no problems.
This happens if I use the Samsung remote or the Kodi app on my mobile phone.
Now, when I do a “skip back” it goes back just a few seconds and even if I press the “rewind/back” button two or three times it goes to the same time on the video. Sometimes the video does not move for a few seconds but the audio play in the background.
This happens on mp4 and mkv files.
Hi Sam,
I tried the OSMC remote, same problem, so I decided to shutdown, power off and restart the Vero (yes, I know “have you tried turning it off and on again?”).
This seems to have fixed the problem, but I’ll keep and eye on.
Thanks again, Sean
I have had the same issue on my Vero 4K since the march update. I only use the OSMC standard remote. I power down the Vero after every session, but the issue remains.
Same problem for me too, using the most recent 4K+ installation (March’25) and OSMC remote.
Is there an easy way to downgrade to the previous version, rather than a full reinstall ?
No trivial way to downgrade. Would be good to see a log to see what’s going on. A log should also let us know if the key press is being registered properly
Logs are here -

MPEG4/AVC codec, OSMC remote.
On closer inspection I did notice that the rewind did work (repeated left arrow keypresses), as shown by the numerical timing information above the progress bar. However the progress bar position did not really reflect the true current play position within the video file after each left keypress. Furthermore some key presses did not seem to be recognised, this seemed unreliable. This gave the visual impression that the play position had not moved (much) to the left of the progress bar. Forward key presses on the other hand did show the current play position, moving to the right, much more accurately, following repeated keypresses, and none seemed to be missed as compared with the left keypresses.
Perhaps this is really a graphical presentation issue with Kodi or the skin ?
Ok. So the keypress itself is registering?
Does changing skin make a difference?
I can see the key presses ‘StepBack’, registered in the log file.
Changing the skin made no difference, the left keypresses were still unreliable (compared to the right keypresses), with many presses not acknowledged (on the UI).
After much experimentation it turns out that the left remote key was physically unreliable.
Sometimes when pressed it would not even register on the internal LED. If I pressed slightly harder it would work reliably.
So, with a little careful prying of the remote, I took it apart and cleaned it, with switch contact cleaner, reassembled it, and it is much better. The remote is getting ‘old’ …
I’m seeing the same issue since the last update as well. I’m using a Vero V with a Logitech Harmony remote. Never seen this before. 1 click no longer goes back 10 seconds. That said, 2 left clicks reliably goes back 30 seconds, as expected.
