Path substitution isn't putting thumbnails on my external hard drive

I was dabbling with the advanced settings to reduce file size following the Kodi wiki

I currently have substitute from: special://profile/Thumbnails

to my usb connected hard drive to the Pi2
media/MyBook AV Expander/Thumbnails

The actual file destination has spaces before and after AV, but in the advanced settings file, it lists it as “MyBook|AV|Expander/Thumbnails” so not sure if that is the issue?

So far, no thumbnails have appeared on my drive, they are all on the Pi
