Have been using the Vero V for quite some time and after every reboot/power cycle when I use Kore (the Android Kodi remote control app) the system crashes then reloads and I can use the app without issue.
Had fully rebuilt the unit via USB drive, updated to latest OSMC release (Aug 2024) and can consistently recreate so I enabled debug logging and recreated. Logs below https://paste.osmc.tv/eboyiwabaq
Can confirm the same crash occurs with yatse. After the initial reboot and the first cursor movement happens (usually down but any direction) get a frown face then afterwards the remotes work without issue.
To add further oddities- have 2x vero 4k and those work without issue in the same manner, just the V having the crash/frown.
No copying of user profiles at all. I did a fresh install on the V each time - first when I received the unit and again when I rebuilt it with the usb installer.
Both units are running the Aug 2024 build - thats why I finally flagged the scenario when I isolated to just the V. Same add-ons used, same libraries.
I also use the android remote app and this crash behaviour matches mine exactly.
Now as soon as video fails to open at all or crashes after a few seconds of playback. I know that I have to pull the plug on the vero to fix it. Fixes it every time. If I just reboot it will never play a video just crashes.
Dug into this a bit more after the recent update was released and issue was still happening.
Was about to install bluestacks to emulate the android app on PC to see if that triggers it like the phone. It was then that I realized that when that first key press happens there is the gui audio “click” when keypresses are triggered and I wasn’t hearing this so started to look at audio settings and found a setting that allowed the unit to work right away after a reboot.
First I noticed that the audio output device was set to Default (AML-AUGESOUND: HDMI…) and number of channels set for 5.1 yet I have audio pass through enabled for all audio types. I only have HDMI connected so figured I’d try to kill the other outputs. With this setting to only HDMI I immediately encountered the same crash but this time it was even without the keypresses. Sounds similar to jack4r. Reverted that back to default in the ~20 seconds before the next crash and that stablized back to my known state of only crashing after a reboot.
Next I reverted from 5.1 channels to 2.0, pass through still enabled and still same default audio output device. With this combo I no longer have crashes after a reboot.
