Pi4 spontaneously rebooting

My Pi4 has recently started spontaneously rebooting, sometimes a couple of times a day but also not every day. I enabled logging yesterday and it rebooted at about 17:11 today. I went onto it at about 21:00 to check and upload the logs but the UI was non-responsive, so I rebooted if from SSH. Consequently, the relevant log from the uploads is kodi.old.log in https://paste.osmc.tv/emilixudec.

I don’t see why the UI had frozen at about 21:00 or sometime previously and I have not noticed any obvious event leading up to the reboot at 17:11.

I have auto-updates enabled but have just tried updating addons again.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

If you still can SSH into it you can upload logs with grab-logs -A that might give better ideas what’s wrong.
Also in that case sudo systemctl restart mediacenter should work instead of reboot.

So the system is unresponsive this morning, but I have SSH access. grab-logs -A gives https://paste.osmc.tv/luwufulohu.

systemctl restart mediacenter has worked.

Hmm. Uptime is only 8:22 so it must have spontaneously rebooted just before 2am today. There are a load of logs at 01:53.

Maybe it makes sense to replace the power supply as a first test.

I don’t have a proper spare knocking around. Can a Pi4 be powered via the USB-A or does it have to be by USB-C?

Has to be USB-C
