Pink screen


1080i is set in the OSMC settings for the resolution.

Why is it odd that it is advertising that? Isn’t that just interlaced, versus progressive? Is progressive “better”?


It’s odd that it is the preferred mode.
My guess would’ve been that the receiver advertises support for YPbPr but only supports RGB; but if Force RGB and a reboot doesn’t help, then something else may be the issue.

Can you try and upload a log when it isn’t pink vs when it is, so we can see what’s happening?


In order to upload a log of when it isn’t pink, I’ll need to remove the HDMIE device in the middle, and have the HDMI go directly between the vero4k, my receiver and the projector, so it would eliminate one piece of the hardware, if that is ok, I’m happy to do it:

In this configuration, Vero -> receiver -> projector, and its normal color. I can also plug the vero straight into the projector, and get a log, if that is helpful.

It appears that way. Although in order to remove the HDMIE device, I need to Frankenstein things quite a bit just to plug them in, so I have only tested a couple times, and have not tried to use it that way for periods of time (the projector has to be very close to the wall, leading to a very small screen, and the cables are hanging quite precariously due to where all the pieces are).


So without the HDMI/cat5 converters (if that’s what you mean by HDMI over ethernet)? Someone else had something similar (and issues) but I can’t find it right now.

Your EDID was definately getting mangled with those adapters.

Yes, that is what I meant. I read that other thread, maybe it is the same issue. Strange that we both had this happen around the same time. Could there have been an update that caused it, like the CEC firmware?

I know its possible to override EDID on the Vero, would it be worthwhile to try this to see what happens? It could be the extender can’t handle it, I have no idea.

On another note, I did search around quite a bit and found a lot of people on other forums having similar issues, for them the solution was disabling CEC. I did try to disable CEC on the projector and the Vero. The projector is pretty easy to disable, but it seems like the option changed on the Vero and I wasn’t really sure I was disabling it there properly.


I ordered a new HDMI extender today, one with EDID copying, as worked in the other thread, but it wont arrive for some days.

Tonight, I turned the projector on, and weirdly… its working now.

Should I grab a log of it working through the extender? Would that be useful?

I turned it off before I got your reply, and when I turned it back on, it was pink again… I couldn’t get it to go to normal again to get that reading.

In the meantime, I got this replacement device:

which advertises that it has EDID copy function. I plugged it in, and the display is normal. So I suspect that this was the cause.

I bought that in March, and now its two months later, and I’m having the same problem with the new device. I dont know if its the devices that are just junk, or if I’m doing something wrong, but this is incredibly frustrating. I cannot use my Vero again :frowning:


Please post a log when the display turns pink.
It sounds like we are sending a YPbPr signal, but your display does not support this but advertises support for it in its EDID.

Here is a log I just captured. I’ve reinstalled the vero completely, just in case that was the cause. I’ve basically done nothing but set the resolution in settings, and then went to the log uploader:

@sam_nazarko : sorry, forgot my original account’s password, so had created another one, I just found the password reset in my spam folder so I went back to my original one.

Two notes:

  1. if I reboot the vero, when the symbol shows up, its the correct color, and then the HDMI signal is reset and then it comes up pink.

  2. if I remove my AVR from the picture, and connect the vero to the HDMIE device, then the display is fine


Your log shows the vero has been on for two days. It started off sending RGB but then changed to YCC but we can’t tell what caused it to do that and you say you have removed the AVR at one stage. When you grabbed the log, it should have been displaying correctly. Could you just:

  • turn on the display
  • turn on the AVR
  • turn on Vero, and
  • grab the logs

and confirm if you are seeing correct colours when you grab the logs.

EDIT: I see in another thread you have doubts about the HDMIE device you have. If you can grab logs with Vero plugged directly into your display, we might be able to suggest a different way to fix the issue.



I did as you asked, I turned on the display, turned on the AVR, turned on the Vero, and did grab logs, this is it:

However, I am not seeing the correct colors when I grab the logs.

The Vero is plugged into an HDMI port on the AVR, the HDMI output of the AVR is plugged into the HDMIE device, that device sends its signal over CAT5 to the receiving HDMIE device, and that device is plugged into the projector/beamer.

If I disconnect the Vero HDMI from the AVR, and connect it directly to the HDMIE transmitter, then I get the correct colors, that produces this log:

Have you tried re-reading the EDID from the beamer into the HDMIE? I don’t know if it’s supposed to remember that EDID through power outages, but somehow it has forgotten it.

I think there might be a way to inject the beamer’s (video) + AVR’s (audio) EDIDs direct into Vero and I’ll have a look later.


There is an “EDID Copy” button on the transmitter side of the HDMIE, which is supposed to do that, but I don’t understand how to make it work. The beamer is incoming, so I’m not sure how it would emit the EDID to the device. I can plug in the transmitter side to the beamer and press the EDID button, but it doesn’t “flash” which is supposed to indicate that it is copying the EDID.


This might be something we could expose as a sysfs option.
Although that could be messy.

The other option is to search /lib/firmware/custedid.bin and allow that to be loaded?


The logs indicate that it’s the AVR and beamer that are not able to agree a video format. Try setting the Vero output to RGB - it may work. There’s nothing we can do with EDIDs in Vero that will help unless Vero is connected directly to the beamer.

As I understand it, the beamer will send its EDID to the HDMIE transmitter device when you push the button, just like it would send its EDID to Vero or your AVR. Then it uses that stored EDID and sends it to the AVR. If it’s not working, then you’d better contact the seller.



I have tried to set the Vero output to RGB, but it did not change anything (yes, I did reboot afterwards).

I’m going to try a third HDMIe device, to see if that helps.
