Playback Issues (Propably YUV444 related)

Hey there,
I have playback issues with various videos, which play fine on my computer.
Basically the video playback is about about 0.4x of normal speed (audio playback is normal), then skips forward to be in sync again.

What they have in common:

  • newer releases from the Anime scene (eg. Glue, Asenshi)
  • they use yuv444, 10bit

Hi,

Its 10bit x264, I don’t believe there are any gpu’s that can play these back; I suspect you pc will be using the cpu to play these back.

Try disabling hardware acceleration for play back these videos.

Thanks Tom.

There are some improvements to Hi10 content coming with Kodi v18 however. This will probably improve things enough.

Thanks for the replies.

@Tom: Other 10bit content playbacks fine (I didn’t check whether they are x264 or x265). I tried both (enabled and disabled hardware acceleration but it doesn’t ‘kick in’ (renderer is still ff-x264 and not am-x264). Either way I hope the software rendering improves (as Sam mentioned).

Hardware decoding of Hi10 (x264 10-bit is not possible)
Hardware decoding of HEVC-10 (x265 10-bit) is indeed possible.
