Problem accessing Vero V as part of a Windows 10 network

Did you read that prompt and decide to change your system level password as well? If so then you would need to use that as the password to login via ssh with.

As for the SMB password I’d first reboot your Vero just in case that is needed (I don’t actually remember if it is). If that still doesn’t work I would either try in explorer going to “\\MediaPlayer” making sure your using back and not forward slashes (ie navigate in using a machine name instead of an IP address) and/or go to Windows settings and search for “credentials manager”. In credentials manager look for the IP address of your Vero listed under Windows credentials. If it has a listing for that then make sure it is correct. If there is no listing you can try manually adding it by selecting the “add a Windows credential” option and then use the IP address of your Vero as the internet address (just the IP, no slashes) and then “osmc” for the username as the password is what you set for the SMB password at the terminal.

I must have made a mistake on that attempt. I exited and tried again, and that time got through the procedure properly. But the password still wasn’t recognised in Explorer.

I’ll try rebooting the Vero and see if that makes a difference. If not, I’ll follow your new suggestion.

Thanks again for your help and your patience with this.

Holy Hannah! It worked! Using MediaPlayer I was prompted for a user name as well as a password, and when I entered both I was taken straight to the SSD.

The Vero still doesn’t appear as part of the network but that’s a minor inconvenience, and one I can look at at my leisure: what matters is that I now have a direct connection from the PC.

Thank you so much.

I think that might indicate an incorrect credential stored in credential manager. Using the computer name is actually preferable unless your set the Vero’s IP address as static in your router as otherwise the IP address of the Vero can change over time.

Assuming your PC and Vero are on the same subnet you might check that network discovery is turned on in windows and that your NIC is set as a private network. Or just say fudge-it and right click on your Vero share in explorer and tell it to add as favorite (to add to the left menu in explorer) or copy and then go to your desktop or wherever and right click paste shortcut to get quick access.

You’re very welcome. Glad to have helped.
