Problem with 4k resolution and some 4k videos

I think users would beg to differ.
Please upload a full set of logs via My OSMC so we can see your settings.

Note that from your MediaInfo published previously, there isn’t any MaxFALL/MaxCLL data to pass through.

10-bit, and chroma space switching issues were fixed just shy of 12 months ago

Sam

which vizio 4k tv do you have? maybe there need some adjustment like extra settings, for Samsung / LG / Sony sometimes advanced settings for UHD need to be set. Perhaps this could also be looked in.

Also as @sam_nazarko mentioned please provide your logging, can be uploaded from OSMC menu and then share the URL, he can look into it, I’m not a log expert

you might try this 4k 60hz sample from LG

to see if it is a vero setting try also to play this sample from usb direct on tv, if it’s the same “view” then it could be a setting on your tv. If it’s better on TV, then log info will possible give a better direction were to look

Brightness and contrast values can be set and applied to all videos - you don’t need to do it for every video file.

I’ll try the sample and get some logs.

Sam, should I get all logs or are there some specific ones that you would want to see?

Full debug logs are what will be needed.

Long post, bear with me.

To start, I did a web search for the proper UHD/HDR settings for my Vizio 4k TV. I found this article: Vizio V Series 2019 Calibration Settings - RTINGS.com

Being that this is my first 4k TV, I assumed that everything is preset as far as all the calibrations for 4k viewing… Not even close!

You have to turn on the support for each HDMI Input. “Full UHD Color” and “Full Chroma 4:4:4” defaults are both set to “Off”. I also did some more calibrations off the recomendations from the article.

Next I downloaded the LG Chess HDR UHD 4K Demo, put it on a USB drive and directly connected to the USB port on my TV and WOW! the picture was fantastic. I took the same USB drive and connected it to the Vero and the same WOW! the picture was perfect. My apologizes Sam, It has nothing to do with the Vero.

I then downloaded the same demo file onto my Seagate external hard drive and played it on the Vero and it was perfect, absolute brilliant colors and beautiful blacks.

Logs for this test: https://paste.osmc.tv/ arekejurow

I did logs for 2 other movies I downloaded.

Transfromers the Last Knight 4k: https://paste.osmc.tv/ javemiwase
Avengers Infinity Wars: https://paste.osmc.tv/ uribeganok

My apologizes Sam and everyone here, It has nothing to do with the Vero 4k+ and everything to do with the ripping and encoding of the files. I heard (MOD EDIT: removed piracy related link)

heres the logs for the Avatar rip: https://paste.osmc.tv/ ohudeneyan

I checked the MediaInfo logs for the difference in the LG Demo, Transformers and the Avatar movie, but I really don’t know what to look for to understand what makes one better than the other. Let me know and I can post the MediaInfo pics.

Glad you found the settings into your TV, I had the same struggle in the beginning
Enjoy !!

Wow. So many smart answers and sugesstions but hardly I see any related to OP :slightly_smiling_face:
I still don’t know, why Vero4k/TV loses signal after playing the 4k video…

I see indeed, I didn’t get a response from you on my first post  I just continued with helping the other :upside_down_face: my fault sorry

Besides that:

Is there an AVR in between or just only Vero and your Samsung?

Did you try to set the gui to 1920/1080p 60 hz instead of 4K?
Did you set UHD Color on on your Samsung on the connected HDMI port?
Did you set refresh on start stop?
Did you test it with the 422 setting?

if yes to all and still no succes, please upload some logging. in which maybe @grahamh or @sam_nazarko could assist, as I’m not a log-expert.

Will check and revert on Friday or over the weekend. Thanks.

The help you recieve is contingent on you. You posted relatively little information and no logs to go off of. Instead of replying to the questions posed you show up two days later with a complaint that you have not received help? After mtv’s overly kind response you still did not answer any questions. How exactly is anyone here suppose to help you?

Indeed – if @oloszyosmc can post the logs and answer a few questions above, I’m sure we can help.

Where is this setting?

All I can find is “Delay after change of refresh rate” which is set to off.

Settings>Player>Videos>Adjust display refresh rate

To see it you must have your settings set higher than basic

Thanks @darwindesign

Thank you very much!

Setting to this, solved the problem with getting back to GUI after the video ended. Thank you very much.

However I’ve noticed a problem with the audio in the file. Sometimes it plays smoothly but sometimes it’s like elongated.

If you want help with that audio issue we are going to need a better description of what exactly it is doing and logs so we can see what settings you are using. The word “elongated” is not something I am familiar with as it pertains to audio. Normally you would have sync or maybe pitch issues.

Please find the link to Kodi log file here: https://paste.osmc.tv/xihucuheke

It’s noticeable only at times, specially in the first 10 seconds of the video. The audio is just stretched, I wouldn’t describe it as delayed, but eloooongaaated rather, and after a while it’s normal and seems to be in sync. It’s hard to describe more meaningful. I’ll see if it occurs with other video files, but I can notice this while playing “The World In HDR 4K Demo”. Thanks

That is not a full log so I can’t see what your settings are.

Check settings>player>videos and if sync playback to display is on, try turning that off. I would also try removing or adjusting the cache settings in your advancedsetting.xml file. Setting the cache to buffer local sources and with a cache size 25x larger than the default does not seem like it would be without issues.
