Hi,
since the December update appeared, I have trouble updating my RPi2 to it. This message appears before the RPi restarts back to OSMC with ‘update available’ notification.

Something has become corrupted on your system. It might be one thing or multiple things, in which case a reinstall will probably be necessary.
Try this:
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install --reinstall libc-bin
If that doesn’t throw an error:
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
