Problem with playing 4K content on my

This problem appeared about a year ago and has gotten worse over time.

I have the UI set to 1080p as suggested.

When trying to play a 4K file the screen turns black and after a few seconds a picture and/or sound flashes and disappeares. Sometimes it does this and starts to play correctly but most of the times (more and more recently) it keeps on playing like this.

If I set the UI to 4K it solves the problem.

I have tried to reinstall the operating system but it didn’t help.

What might be the cause of this?

Hard to say without some logs.

Logs will show what happens when you play 1080p vs 4K material (we will switch to a 4K resolution for the latter) by default.

If you also have the opportunity, please try another HDMI cable.

I was really surprised. Tried another HDMI and it worked perfectly. And then I changed back and it still worked. I hope it stays this way and thank you for the help!
