Problem with the remote Skip button (move to next bookmark)

Greetings from afar.
A couple of days ago, my Vero 5 skip button started to misbehave. When pressed, to move on to the next bookmark on any file, the playback stops and the video simply starts playback from the beginning of the file (my files are on hard drives and all of them are affected this way). The reverse function works fine ie I can skip backwards exactly as before, but not forwards.
Other than that, the Vero is perfect. I’ve tried rebooting to no avail.
I’ve perused the Forums for anyone with the same problem - ek71 seems to have a similar issue, earlier this month, though his appears to just stop playing altogether.
Any advice out there please?
Please bear in mind, I’m not that tech. savvy - more a plug and play sort of bloke! Help gratefully accepted, but please do so as if you’re talking to a 10 year old…(I’m actually 71!)

Hi

No problem. I’m sure we can get this solved.

If you upload a log we should be able to check if the key press is being registered and what’s going on.

Let me know if you need some help uploading logs

Sam

What remote are you using? The remote that ships with the Vero’s don’t have a dedicated skip button which makes me think that perhaps your using your TV’s remote via CEC. Is this the case? The Vero remotes will do chapter/bookmark previous/next, or large skip-step (depending on the if chapters or bookmarks are present) when you use the up/down direction buttons. Is the direction buttons what you are referring to when you say “skip button”?

If you upload a log as Sam requested it would need to be a debug log to be fully useful. Preferably one where you rebooted, turned on debug logging, played a video and repeated these key presses that produced errant behavior, stop playback, then uploaded logs and post the url in this thread.

Hi Sam
Thanks for the reply and offer of help. I’m out of the house for a day or two, but will endeavor to do as you suggest on my return. I haven’t involved myself with the logs before - I will try to follow the instructions to do so, but may perhaps need a little guidance! I’m sure you will get this sorted for me - as a measure of my confidence, I’ve just ordered the 4-port powered hub! Speak shortly,
Don

Thank you for the reply.
I think perhaps I was a little clumsy in explaining the issue. I am using the supplied Vero 5 remote. The problem occurs when using the on-screen controls ie moving on to the next chapter which is visible on screen (so for example 16 to 17). So, when I hi-light the required on-screen arrow to move on to the next chapter, instead of doing so, the video stops and the entire video starts from the beginning. As I mentioned to Sam, I’ll try to get my head round submitting the logs asap. Thanks again.

Problem solved!
A little effort (trial and error!) last night resolved the issue I was experiencing. I had inadvertently pressed the first of the on-screen buttons to the right of the display (showing a curved arrow, presumably to loop continuous play etc.) This affected the operation of the on-screen button which moves the video on to the next chapter. Having now reset the continuous play button to its original position, everything now behaves as normal.
I really must get my head around the capabilities of this excellent piece of kit. As mentioned, I’ve simply plugged it in to my cinema room Anthem AV70 processor as a replacement for an ageing Oppo blue ray player - the Vero out-performs this in every aspect, particularly sound quality which is my priority.
So, my thanks to Sam and Darwindesign for the offer of help.
