Ever since upgrading to the latest version of OSMC, I’ve been having a heck of a time just trying to watch a little television. I’m running OSMC on a Raspberry Pi 2, using it as a front-end for a MythTV system. It’s worked great for a long time, but now…
Every time the system starts, I get the little alert telling me that the PVR manager is starting up. I get the little alert that says it is “Loading guide from database” and all the channels are listed, one by one. Until at some random point in the process, it just stops. It doesn’t freeze, but this guide read halts, and won’t proceed. I wouldn’t really care, because I don’t use OSMC for live TV or for managing the MythTV box, but until this process finishes, I can’t get a show list in the “Recordings” section under Live TV.
So far the fix seems to be to open an SSH session and “sudo systemctl restart mediacenter” repeatedly until the PVR guide read actually completes. There is no consistency to where the read will stop. Sometimes I get two or three channels, other times I’ll get nearly the whole list, sometimes it actually finishes. Tonight it doesn’t seem to be finishing.
