Need an advise here, if possible.
last week I lost access to my RPI4. I have a Samsung Q led Q60D and the of system can’t let me select the proper HDMI to try to troubleshoot. Because if the TV does not receive a signal from the HDMI, it won’t even appear on the TV as a possible selection.
Anyway, it was on a day that the main power got off one time at least so I figured that I was selected for the corrupted SD-card event.
Doesn’t mind to re do because I have a few backups with the most important files for me, and almost none from Kodi itself. (I may regret that this time but I’m working with I got today)
I got an image done in Feb/2023 and would like to use it.
My question is, when it is offer to update, which definitely will, should I install something manually before, I mean update in parts or the latest update is enough? (it will means that the system will jump from early 2023 to late 2024). That’s what is bugging me.
A corrupt SD card would not mean no HDMI Signal at all.
if don’t get any HDMI signal something else is off. What are the LEDs indicating
It’s blinking, not in any particular way though…
If you install a version that old it will probably not update to current. As for restoring settings that were taken from an older version of Kodi you should be able to do that manually, but I don’t think it would work if you used the restore program in My OSMC or the Kodi backup add-on. If you stop Kodi and completely remove ~/.kodi
and then replace it from the backup when Kodi starts back up it should update the databases and settings automatically to conform to the new Kodi version.
This should update OK.
You have 2 LED’s that both have a meaning by how they blink (or not blink) so I suggest you be a bit more precise. First recommendation is always just install OS on a second card see if all hardware is working. then you can decide on best recovery method.
@fzinken I know about the blinking leds and error codes correlations. I just can’t notice any pattern.
@darwindesign unfortunately I’m using the spare card already. I just don’t expected to need to use another so fast. And I would just copy the necessary personal files, not restore the whole system.
@sam_nazarko That’s what I’ll try.
Thanks a lot for all your input gentleman. Pristine as usual…
I just remembered that one thing you might look at if you haven’t reimaged yet, is to plug the SD card into a PC and look at the partition that Windows can read to see if the config.txt file is present and contains the correct text. There has been a few occasions in the past where (seemingly) just that one file got corrupted and replacing it has gotten the original install back up and running.
humm… I’ll take a look and update here when I do. Thanks
Just to close this issue once and for all, the problem was the power supply. I tried to start the rpi and the network lights didn’t blinked at all. Move the rpi to my desk, with another power supply, and worked flawlessly.
At that point I already formatted the SD card so, I couldn’t look at your idea darwin. Sorry about that.
Anyway, changed the power supply and it worked!!!
