I currently have OSMC installed on RaspberryPI 3b, but it crashes on 4K content as it is not designed for that. I am thinking about replacing it with RPI 4, but I can’t see if OSMC will work on that.

Pi 4 support will come soon (a few weeks).
But only software video playback will be supported, which means that the Pi will be limited until it supports V4L2/GBM (around 2021). The Pi4 is a very new platform, so will be rough around the edges for a while.
For 4K support, you’d be better off buying a Vero 4K +.
