Hi,
All the white on-screen fonts and symbols started displaying as ‘doubled’ (or ghosting) today and strangely they were worse down the right-hand side of the screen, although the video playback itself was fine. But this was bugging me, so after adjusting refresh rates then screen resolution and back again to no avail I decided to go to the ‘power’ option and reboot the Vero 4K to see if the old ‘apple’ trick would work.
But for the past 2 hours all I’ve had is a black screen. The box’s blue light is on, after turning red to reboot, and the device IS on because if it wasn’t my TV it’s connected to would power-off after 5 minutes of no signal.
The ‘black screen’ issue happened the other day too after installing updates and for almost 3-hours it remained that way until suddenly just coming back on of its own accord. Someone suggested this wasn’t normal behaviour from the device, but now it seems to have happened again.
Until it (hopefully) magically ‘comes back to life’ it is as good as dead in terms of any kind of functionality.
Does anyone think my Vero 4K is faulty? I’ve only had it a week and only used it for about 3 hours in total so far.
To get a better understanding of the problem you are experiencing we need more information from you. The best way to get this information is for you to upload logs that demonstrate your problem. You can learn more about how to submit a useful support request here.
Thanks for your understanding. We hope that we can help you get up and running again shortly.
Are you using the new power supply we shipped you?
If the Vero 4K is turned on before the TV / AVR is presenting an EDID, it can be outputting a video mode that the TV may not be compatible with. For example: if you had a TV only supporting 720p, but turned it on after booting Vero 4K; you may see no picture as Vero 4K would have defaulted to 1080p. You can force a standard resolution of course, but this isn’t usually necessary.
Do you have the opportunity to connect it to a new display temporarily?
Cheers
Sam
Hi Sam,
I AM using the power supply supplied (the new re-send one).
My TV has a 1080P default but is 4K compatible. I tried changing the input source and turning the TV on and off too. Still nothing.
I have another TV I’ll try it on there in a moment - there’s still a black screen as I type.
I’ll also try plugging it into my MacPro - it hasn’t been plugged into a computer as yet. I’ll do this to A) see if it works and B) try to get the log info the first responder requested, although I am ‘semi’ computer-literate at best and that information meant nothing to me! I’ll follow the guidelines in the link and try my best.
So I plugged it into my little TV and an image came up! I went back to my big TV and an image came up! So it seems to be alive once again.
Many thanks for that advise all.
As for creating ‘logs’, I’ve realised I cannot plug it into my Mac as I have no USB cable with both the same ends…
And if there’s a bluetooth option my Mac won’t link to it. Anything done wirelessly where I live (in the sticks) is diabolical. I’m on a 700KB download speed…
