Hi,
I have a RPi3+ with external USB drives on one mount point (mhddfs).
I can play just fine with this one like usual.
I have another RPi3+ in another room, which access the 1st Pi to play movies. Recently this doesnt work anymore, the movies starts and after like 10-60s it just stops and after sometime I am back to the menu. From there i can continue the movie where it stopped, but then it again crashes after some time.
The same occurs when i want to play sth using my laptop via samba…the movie starts and after some time it stopps.
That never occured before, so I guess it was some update?
The hardware should be fine - 2.5A powersupply and a case with ventilator.
To get a better understanding of the problem you are experiencing we need more information from you. The best way to get this information is for you to upload logs that demonstrate your problem. You can learn more about how to submit a useful support request here.
So, in summary:
activate the logging
reboot the OSMC device
reproduce the issue
upload the log set either using the Log Uploader method within the My OSMC menu in the GUI or the ssh method invoking command grab-logs -A
publish the provided URL from the log set upload, here
Thanks for your understanding. We hope that we can help you get up and running again shortly.
I activated the logging. However, it took some time to reproduce the problem (probably because of the reboot). So i guess you will have to go to the very end of the logging - I exported the log-file right after it stopped.
Hi,
yes and no, they are connected via an active USB Hub, 5W if I remember correctly.
They should have sufficient current, also they work when played via the first Pi.
The Playing with the second Pi or using Windows does not work,
Copying from PC to the Pi works fine though.
The disk are also mounted via fstab.
Edit: Aa sry you mean to use fstab also for the 2nd Pi - I can try that.
I mounted the smb device via fstab in the second Pi.
But it did not work, the same error occurd.
Howeverm, this time the movie didnt stop entirely, but after minutes a new frame appears.
Very strange, when stoping the movie and playing again, it works fine again for some time. When this happens is also not clear, someties it runs for minutes, sometimes only a few second.
It the past it was always working fine.
Here the logs of the 2nd Pi:
Sorry to ask a stupid question, could you please confirm what you mean by Active USB Hub; do you mean the hub is self powered and is not being powered by the pi?
Another consideration is powerline adapters can be know to be unstable, are they both plugged straight into the mains socket or are they on a power strip?
For testing is possible to bypass the powerline apapters temporarily?
Also have you consider trying the AC wifi bult into the RPi3+ ?
Both powerline adapters are plugged in the main sockets.
The TVs are fixed on the wall, so i need a longer cable before testing a bypass.
Previsously I used the wifi of the Pi, but the wlan was unstable especially when the doors were closed. Thats why i changed to the powerline. But I will try this it just for testing.
It was working for 30mins. Then i tried to play a movie also from the Win10 Laptop.
This caused the Pi to stop, the Laptop just brings the error: 0x8007003b
The Laptop also does not really work when the Pi does not play, but it seems that the Pi is ok with the WLAN - at least when ignoring the low speed.
Seems to be network problem? But it was ok before, no idea what has changed…
