Remembering Playback Position after Shutdown?

Hello OSMC community,

I am relatively new to OSMC and KODI in general, and I have been having a bit of an issue with my RPi setup.

I am using OSMC’s 20161224 build on a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B.

The issue I am having pertains to the playback position memory.

I have noticed that, if I pause and exit video playback on OSMC, it remembers that position for resuming, but when the device is powered down and back up again, overnight for example, it doesn’t, it loses that position memory.

I wondered if it was possible if there was a setting somewhere to keep that position and make it carry over from shutdowns, but I wasn’t able to find anything at all in settings so i thought I would ask here.

Is there any way to remember playback position after shutdown?

How are you powering down OSMC?

Often by using the Shut Down feature, then once I get a black screen and the fan slows, I pull the plug on the device.

Ok, then suggest you enable debug logging and do the steps of:

  1. Stop Video
  2. Shutdown via shutdown menu
  3. Unplug
  4. Restart
  5. Upload logs (e.g. grab-logs -A)
