Remote access and updating

I am tying with the idea of using a Rasberry Pie as Kodi Media Player for Local stored and legal files.

This is what I want to do.

1 Use Rasberry Pi 3 + or 4

  1. Use OSMC or Latest Kodi Version

3 Connect HDD or SDD up to the Kodi Box

  1. Load Video Files onto HDD for local Kodi Play back

  2. Install Kodi Media Player at my daughters house.

  3. Download a new movie to my local PC or laptop

  4. Remote Login to daughters OSMC and transfer new Movie to device and HDD.

Is this possible and how would it be done are they any videos guides.

Kind regards

Hi,

I see you posted this on the Kodi forums earlier.

This is the trickiest bit.
I’d suggest installing our FTP server, changing the default password, and port forwarding with a dynamic DNS service.

The Pi 4 is not supported on OSMC quite yet. If you have the upload bandwidth on your end to support streaming the movies without transcoding then you might consider going the Plex route instead of actually keeping two copies. Someone managed to get it going and wrote up a guide here. If you have to transcode I don’t know that the Pi would be fast enough to do that (it might, I doubt it, but I have never tried).

I tried plex before on ras pi 3+ as portable player did not work so well prefer kodi for that.

Within OSMC or Coreelec or how do i do This is the trickiest bit.

Also can I alter OSMC config to allow the followng if so how.

If Local wifi contection and password match connect to to wifi, if not then auto switch AP mode so phoe or tablet can be used as remote etc.
