Replacing my old PCTV 72e

Hi!

My PCTV 72e does not work anymore under Linux (not used for about 2 year since i moved in a new flat). It works perfectly under Windows7 and i can view hd channels too. It’s weird as if I reboot in Linux after used it in Windows it works flawlessly. I tried older linux distro I used from 2 to 5 years ago with no success, so I suspect that there it may be a problem related to high signal strength (i loose the mobile antenna, so I cannot verify) that is handled by the windows driver but not by the linux one.

Anyway the PCTV 72e never had a good sensitivity (got about half of channels of a normal tv) so I decided to buy a new one with a very good linux support and sensitivity good to run a rbpi2 tv backend/osmc 24h.

Someone suggested me the PCTV 292e but it’s quite expensive (i do not need dvb-c so i guess some model dvb-t2 only may be cheaper). I read some info about RTL2832U+R820T based stick too and SDR would be a nice feature but only if it meets my requirements.

Suggestions?

Thanks

Nico

I’m not sure why you post this to an OSMC forum, as you only mention Windows7 and Linux (unspecified version) for environments.
I once had some hardware/software which exhibited the same type of behaviour - would only work properly in linux if it had been rebooted from working in Windows. A later version of the same linux, with updated drivers, worked perfectly.
