sudo nano /etc/udev/hwdb.d/haobo.hwdb
And enter the following EXACTLY as shown here (or copy and paste) including the single space before the “KEYBOARD”.
evdev:input:b0003v4842p1*
KEYBOARD_KEY_c0041=kpenter
Then press ctrl+x, then y, then enter to save and exit. Reboot and see if the button now works.

I rebooted and it did not work. I wanted to be sure if I saved it properly so used sudo nano /etc/udev/hwdb.d/haobo.hwdb and it came back with the other line you asked me to type in (I actually cut and pasted it), so it seems too have saved okay.
For some reason, logging was enabled upon reboot. It wasn’t before
Can you copy the output of the following two commands and paste it in this thread…
ls -la /etc/udev/hwdb.d/
and
cat /etc/udev/hwdb.d/haobo.hwdb
You turned it on with the very first command I had you type. You can run that again to toggle it back off.

Thank you very much.
FYI kodi-send -a toggledebug immediately turns off logging, but it returns upon reboot.
Lastly, if I find I want to remap another button in the future, can you explain what you did or should I just ask again?
Again, thank you for all your help
I’ve seen that sometimes. Try turning it off and then tell Kodi to exit instead of rebooting. That normally does it for me.
So the issue here is that Kodi can’t handle any key that is using a number greater than 256 so to make this button, which was using 353 (left mouse button BTW) work we needed to assign it to a different key that is using something Kodi understands. Ideally something that is already keymapped to what you want. In this case we moved the mouse click to the keyboard enter key. The hwdb file changes these mapping at the operating system level. The first line in that file identifies which hardware devices are affected. Each line after that takes care of an individual key being remapped. To do another key just press the button in evtest and take note of the code that comes back. You can then enter a new line in that hwdb file using that number and using a key name from that very long list I had you post from evtest. You need to make sure each line has exactly one space and your using the same formatting scheme that I used, but you should be able to figure it out.
