RMVB File Support

Hi,

I’ve literally just got my Raspberry Pi 3 (Model B) today and set it up with OSMC but am experiencing problems getting it to play back any of my .rmvb files. They start to play, but there’s only audio - OSMC doesn’t even start rendering video - and playback stops after just a few seconds. I have a lot of .rmvb files and so far all seem to behave the same way. These files all playback fine on my Win10 PC. Is .rmvb supported in OSMC? How can I get these to play?

Thanks

We really need to see logs of a playback failure please.

Hope this is right, thanks for looking at this.

I believe this has been fixed and should be in the next osmc update.

Yes, it’s also in staging.

I’d appreciate it if you could test this and provide feedback before we release this as an update to other users. To test this update:

  1. Login via the command line
  2. Edit the file /etc/apt/sources.list
  3. Add the following line: deb http://apt.osmc.tv jessie-devel main
  4. Run the following commands to update: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade && reboot
  5. Your system should have have received the update.

Please see if the issue is resolved.

I also recommend you edit /etc/apt/sources.list again and remove the line that you added after updating. This will return you to the normal update channel.
