RPI2 not start after the last Upgrade

It’s like you could make such an upgrade that destroyed my system.
I am as ignorant user installed upgrade.
There was no warning message.
I was very disappointed on this system.
I am very sorry.

Obviously, it was not our intention to render your system unusable.

But you need to help us help you. I don’t know what you mean by ‘won’t boot’. Do you see the OSMC splash screen? Do you see anything on the screen? Which lights come on on the Pi?

Sam

There is no welcome screen.
The LEDs in red and behind.

But I now regained system with a copy of the card and you tell me what do I do now that the situation is not repeated.

my current version

root@osmc:~# uname -or
4.2.3-2-osmc GNU/Linux

I am unable to discern your issue nor guarantee future updates will work as I am still none the wiser.

Sam

The problem is that I can not do an update because as I do that the system will not boot
My current version is:
root @ OSMC: ~ # uname -or
4.2.3-2-OSMC GNU / Linux
Please tell me what I have at the moment to do to be able to continue to use the OSMC and upgrade
The system works at the moment.

Provide the output of grab-logs -A so we might have some idea what’s going on.

Now, nothing happens.
The system works well.
How do update then the system will not start so how then can I give you the logs?
This is a misunderstanding

Yes, but looking at your logs BEFORE the update breaks the system can at least allow us to look for something that seems out of place. There is something specific in YOUR system that causes it to be broken on upgrade because THOUSANDS of other users do not have any problem with this update.

Imagine this situation:
I’m using Windows 7 and Microsoft suddenly sends me an update on which my system stops working because BillGates invented itself that will change the file system in your product.
The failure of some.

Never experienced a blue screen of death in Windows ?

As it does not.
And how these posts in a forum?
Until now, all the updates did and it was not a problem.
Please write specifically what I give.
I am a layman so please carefully instructions.

Imagine that Windows 7 costs $100USD and has development teams consisting of tens of thousands of people. OSMC costs NOTHING and has a development team of less than 5.

This thread is getting dangerously near being closed since it’s not moving toward any tangible resolution…

I’ve already told you what to do, run grab-logs -A and provide the link.

Can I give your system logs to the public?
You do not betray it my passwords?

If you are behind NAT then the passwords are keys for locks with unknown locations and are useless to anyone. Provide in PM if it makes you feel better.

I sent for priv (I think)

How the system I no longer run after the upgrade did it:

 sam_nazarko
Rename the latest vmlinuz-4.2.3-* file to kernel.imgThis will allow you to boot. In a few hours, an update will be available which resolves this issue. We will update this post.
 Sam

and the system started
Maybe it will help you diagnose my problem

Is something explained in my case?

I’ve had a look at your logs. You have a large amount of system customizations installed. Something there is likely problematic but, it is outside of our scope to determine what it might be. While logs taken after the problem occurs would be far more likely to point to a specific issue, this seems not to be possible. This problem is not widespread among our users and certainly a problem specific to your customizations.

That’s not nothing else left for me to turn off updates and stay with what I have now.
I can not opt out of these systems that I have and which so far worked.
I’m sorry for this reason.
Thank you and best regards.

I have one more question.
I started a new OSMC to another SD card and I can not get to the root account.

sudo passwd root gives nothing
He writes that the password changed but I can not login as root

Did you change ‘PermitRootLogin’ in /etc/ssh/sshd_config and sudo service ssh restart?
