Running OSMC with Kodi 18.9 on Pi 2 Zero W

Is there any way to run OSMC that has kodi 18.9 on a raspberry pi 2 zero?
From what I can tell, the first version of OSMC that supported the Pi Zero 2 W had kodi 19.
I want to be able to take advantage of the better hardware support for older Pis that was included in kodi up to version 18.9.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Have you tried a newer build? Most of the hardware decoding support that was initially lost I think has been added back. I think it is just HEVC that didn’t fully return but that was already only partial and couldn’t deal with any large or complicated encodes anyway.

Also, please don’t cross post with reddit.

Thanks for the reply.
I’m really only interested in HEVC support.

I have a Pi 3 that plays all the 720p HEVC videos that I am interested in, so I wanted to be able to play the same files on the pi zero 2

I don’t think you can get there with OSMC. You might try LibreELEC 9.2 and see if you have success there. I don’t know if those builds support the zero 2 but it might be worth giving it a try.

Fair enough, thanks.

I’ve gone down the LibreELEC route already. It’s the same situation. Pi Zero 2 not supported on 9.2. There are some forum posts about how it can be done, but wifi seems to be an issue.
