Screen resolution and Audio output

Hi there,

When I change my screen resolution and my audio output, where is the setting then saved?

I have tried to write to /boot/config.txt for changing the screen resolution without any luck and I have tried to write to ~/.kodi/userdata/guisettings.xml at audiodevice to change the device?

I wish to be able to change the settings through the terminal over a bootup. Anyone who can help me out here?

At bootup, the resolution is read from <videoscreen><screenmode> and applied as long as that resolution is available on the display.
