- Check the user + password the mediacenter might have stored:
SSHin to the Vero (login: osmc, default oassword: osmc) and look at/home/osmc/.kodi/userdata/passwords.xml. - Check the used keyboard layout in the mediacenter at
settings -> system -> input -> keyboard.
In Windows network settings make sure your NIC is set as “local” and not “public”.
In Windows explorer go to the networking section and if there is a banner that pops up that says something about network browsing being disabled click on it to enable that.
In Kodi, add a source and tell it to browse and in that window tell it to add a network location. In this screen you would enter just computer name or IP in the “Server Name” field, and your username and password and then click OK. The browse list will then have this new location and you should be able to just browse through this to add new sources.
Dear all, I just wanted to give you an update and say thank you for your help.
I have now successfully managed to play my movies from the hard drives using the SMB method. The connection is working and the playback is smooth, so your suggestions were extremely helpful.
At the moment I am fine-tuning the movie library as not all movies were imported during the scan, so I am currently checking which titles were missed. I will review those folders, adjust the file or folder names if necessary, and then try importing them again.
Your replies and suggestions were very helpful and saved me a lot of time. I really appreciate the support from the forum here!
Thank you again for your help.
Best regards
