Skipping forward causes OSMC to crash

Good afternoon all,

–Rewritten as to not confuse after further testing–

I have a 4k H265 file that uses Atmos TrueHD 7.1. If I skip forward in the file it will cause a crash. I can’t replicate it with other 4k H265 files that are using DTS-HD MA 5.1.

  • Vero 4k (up to date)
  • Synology DS920+
  • NFS share mapped in /etc/fstab directly
  • Wired ethernet
  • HDMI video, optical audio (old amp…)

Last line the logging is:
2021-09-09 13:42:16.819 T:2776 ERROR : CAMLCodec::AddData: packet to big: 1190000, probably corrupted

I was thinking of doing a factory reset and re-setting everything up to see if it has any impact but thought I’d ask first before I go through all that work.

Did a bit more testing. I don’t think it’s actually resolution/file size related. I think it’s audio. I’ve got a 4K h265 file thats in 5.1 and that will let me skip around aggressively without issue (some buffering here and there).

The file I can always recreate this with is Atmos TrueHD 7.1

Are you playing videos with TrueHD tracks? If so – this is expected and a known, upstream Kodi issue.

Yeah, that’ll be it then Sam. Close this off if Kodi is fixing upstream.
