Slow video start up

While my video startup isn’t noticable slower than before the update, I now get the ‘Playback Failed’ message after selecting most videos (from my server). Once I click OK I can then watch the ‘failed’ video.

Open a new thread and provide debug enabled logs.

Hello, and sorry for the late answer, not being home for some time !

I do keep 3 OSMC backup files, rotating. The 4th and smaller/older one I am not sure why…

Thanks for helping, I will also check your answers in the other post mentioned by pinn73 and come back.

But I assume you write your tgatbackups to your NAS not the temporary folder, or?
That they remain in the temporary folder is because the backup script not working.

Suggest to run rm .kodi/temp/*

YES SOLVED!
I just remove the ./temp content as you recommended and everything is now fine, video starts almost instantly.

For the Backups, you are right I chose one of the local HDDs as destination in the settings. But I realize now that the most recent I have on HDD is Sep3, so the Sep5 one is missing, at least. And why the others even remain on local /temp I do not understand. There must be an issue with the backup script indeed. I will verify my backup settings, but any recommendation on this one is welcome

Many thanks for the help already !

It’s a know issue that will be fixed in the next update

Good to know!
I’ll check progress on this other one later then.

This has been an issue for a while now - see here Slow video start up - #24 by fzinken
