Just a heads up here. The Installer for OSX claims to be compatible as far back as Snow Leopard, but the latest one claims an incompatibility at launch and to report it to the developer for assistance. I reverted to last month’s installer and it launched fine.

That’s unfortunate. This looks like a regression due to fix for the recent El Capitan.
I no longer have a Snow Leopard machine here so I’m unable to test this.

It’s hard to keep this much backportability, especially given that 10.6 is now really old. Could you elaborate on “Surprisingly, there are still a lot a creative professionals handcuffed to Snow Leopard for their work.”?
Anyhow, like to hear your feedback to the latest version. You can check if you have the right one if the DMG is ~9MB and the binary inside is ~19MB
Still a no go I’m afraid.
As far as Snow Leopard’s install base with the creative community, I can only speak while generalizing about American creative firms. Just about any design firm tries to give the impression that they are much bigger than they are. Of course that means that all the moderately sized operations are actually a small group. Considering how may companies there are from state to state, this amounts to a ton of smaller firms.
The problem lies in the investment that was made in the hardware and software. Once Apple committed to a 64-bit only operating system (which of course is a good thing in the long run), those 32-bit investments still needed to see a return. Now, here we are three years later and one in five macs still run Snow Leopard. These numbers are mainly propped up by the design community, but also include the average users who have older hardware and even those who didn’t like the locked down iPhone-like direction Apple took starting with Lion.
All your efforts are greatly appreciated, but if back-porting to Snow Leopard becomes to much to handle, I’m sure no one will begrudge whatever decision must be made. You guys generously donate so much of your time to this project and you should at least be able to decide how you use it.

Thanks for the info. I had a few other tries, but ultimately, it looks like we can’t provide one installer for 10.6 and 10.7+ so we are going to drop support for 10.6. Sorry, but Apple deprecated a whole bunch of APIs and moved from libstdc to libc - and full static builds seem to be impossible at all. If there’s anyone willing and able to fix this, I won’t keep you from it.
