Indeed. Luckily my windows laptop has a SD reader so I could just slot it right in. Otherwise I guess you can install it from a USB stick.
Just before I re-flashed OSMC, I tried running kodi from the shell and it actually started. Neither of my remotes worked or were able to control it though, but it wasn’t frozen.
How ever, I’ve re-flashed the sd card now and it boots again.

I got the same issue.
I fixed it by running “systemctl enable mediacenter” and rebooting
