Start of play - sometimes buffer circle - video plays in background

Sometimes when I play a file, 1080P or DV the video plays but there is an overlay which causes the picture to be very dark.
The overlay is a spinning circle as if its buffering. It eventually disappears and plays normally. It appears the overlay is removed when there is a scene change so it can be present for 10 - 90 seconds.
Happens I would say 1 in 10 files.

Is it just me?

Some logs should give us some clues

Sam

I enabled debugging and with uptime of <30 minutes was unable to reproduce it. Must have played 100+ .mkv files across a number of reboots.
I can leave the debug enabled until it triggers again, but I would have to disable the debug overlay in the top left corner, is that possible?
I’m playing the files via CIFS over WiFi, I did iperf3 and get 500Mbps in each direction with no errors.

Sam - are you aware of an issue when you stop playing a DV MKV sometimes the screen is black. Another file needs to be played/stopped to see the Kodi UI. I can provide logs for this.

This can be done by with an advancedsettings.xml file…
