I’m just getting to grips with the Aerial screensaver add-on and have it working fine using local files as I saw from a recent post on here, having it constantly streaming from source is a big network hog.
My question is slightly related to this however, in that as my ‘local’ files are held on a network share, whenever the screensaver is active this will result in network traffic on the two Vero devices I have enabled it on.
This is fine in practice, however when the TV is off, the screensaver obviously just continues regardless. I’ve had a look in the CEC options and can’t see a way to get this functionality.
Anyone have any thoughts if it’s possible? Would be really nice to use this screensaver but unless I copy the files to a USB and have multiple copies plugged into the devices I want to use it on (which sounds a bit like overkill) I think it’s a non starter.
Thinking about it, this is the same regardless of which screensaver is active. I just need some way of stopping the current one and possibly reverting to ‘Dim’ when the TV is off.
Thanks Sam, I had always wondered what Suspend actually did, now I know! Unfortunately my TV has started going nuts when displaying HDR content from this screensaver, more work to do. Straightforward it is not.
Encountered further issues with the screensaver tonight, this time HDR playback related. Is anyone else using this add-on who wouldn’t mind testing playback of some of the videos on a 4K screen to see if it’s possible to get it working properly.
I’ve rewired my Vero V directly to my TV (no amp), copied some of the 4K, HDR, HEVC files onto a USB and played them back fine when plugged directly into the TV. But when using Vero, I get screen flashes and incorrect colours.
I’ve tried moving the files onto the Vero itself, rather than streaming from an NFS share, but no change.
I think I’ve narrowed down what’s causing the flashing to the refresh rate, (all files seem to be either 29.97 or 24) so just working though a last batch of HDR related settings that could be causing the colour issue, then I’ll post some logs.
