I’ve been running OSMC on a Raspberry Pi 3 for several years now. These days I get pretty routine sad faces and freezes requiring me to pull the power cable.
Is this the hardware showing its age or do I need to reformat and start over? I’m happy to just pick up a new RP3 if that’s the best route.

The RPi’s themselves are not known to become problematic with age. SD cards and power supplies do wear out over time though. A clean install if you don’t mind rebuilding isn’t the worst idea. If you were going to delete the SD anyway you might as well test it while your at it with something like h2testw.
